I quit my job

Hello all, it's been quiet around here; I have been a busy chicken. I am making big moves as well. The last month or so has been immensely stressful. Let me backtrack a tad. Dr. Mama OT is just one of my special projects and "babies." I work part-time at a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), at my private practice Adira Occupational Therapy, manage Dr. Mama OT, and most importantly, I'm a proud toddler mom and wife. It's safe to say the candle is burning at both ends.

When I started my private practice, I did it to fill a need in Santa Barbara because I have a passion for working with babies. I realized I wanted more from my practice and recently expanded my offerings to mamas and babies, as there is no baby health and wellness without mamas! What a privilege to do this beautiful, fulfilling work, and this is where my heart lies; I love working with families, working in their home environment, and having the flexibility to schedule myself so that I am ALWAYS available for my daughter. And I recognize my ability even to say it is such a privilege.

Well, back to that job. I will say that I love working in rehabilitation. It lights me up in all the best ways when I'm treating a patient who wants to be there, seeing their progress, and feeling I'm giving my absolute best. That's what OT should be. Well, the reality is that the bureaucracy of health care dictates what and how I do something, which puts a damper on my day, to say the least.

I've been facing unrealistic productivity standards, caseloads, and unsupportive supporting staff at my job. It's been a source of anxiety for weeks, and I've been discussing with my husband about quitting. I finally decided to resign and pursue my work with the goal of growing it to its fullest potential. Boy, scary but so exciting!

I don't know what's in store for me, but I know my cup is full now in the best way and with the best things. As I type, I am brainstorming additional ideas for Dr. Mama OT and the growth of Adira Occupational Therapy.

To commemorate my new journey, I have decided to host a giveaway exclusively for my email subscribers.

Thanks for being here, guys, and YAY, I quit my job.
