BrOT Enamel Pin | Representation & Advocacy in Occupational Therapy
The BrOT enamel pin was created to celebrate representation, community, and the beauty of diversity within the Occupational Therapy profession. Designed in collaboration with Dr. Mama OT, this pin honors male OTs and the importance of visibility across gender and cultural identities in healthcare.
Inspired by three incredible OTs who grew from classmates into colleagues, this pin is both personal and purposeful. It reflects pride in the profession while acknowledging the ongoing need for better data, visibility, and representation — especially for Black, Latinx, Asian, and Pacific Islander men in Occupational Therapy.
According to the AOTA 2019 Workforce and Salary Survey, approximately 9.1% of Occupational Therapists identify as male. While comprehensive data on racial and ethnic representation among male OTs remains limited, this pin exists to spark conversation, advocacy, and continued efforts toward inclusion.
Wear it as a statement of pride, allyship, and commitment to a more representative future for Occupational Therapy.
